• Character Summary - A tall, willowy red-headed woman, Liawen Muranin is the newest Sitter among the three for the Brown in the Hall. Pleasant and genial, her placement in the Hall was something of a surprise, for she had never been known to espouse such ambitions before. In the upper echelon of Aes Sedai potency, she is a capable sister, who has been known to travel far and wide at a moment's notice to investigate rumors of rare books and other precious scraps of information. Fascinated by Tel'an'rhiod, she is one of the foremost scholars on the subject in the Tower, and keeps watchful tabs on the novices for signs of that rare talent. She is a close political ally of Perseinde Apeneos of the Blue Ajah and Tianan Tanches of the Green. Liawen is bonded to Jaesin Tenwald, a Cairhienin man who is a trained clocksmith and is fascinated by mechanical objects, while being swift and deadly with his saber. Her young cousin, Amelle Muranin, is a recently raised Green sister.

• Character Description - Tall and reed-slender, with a permanent squint to her bright hazel eyes, Liawen Muranin looks as if she has been spending too long a time peering at manuscripts in dimly lit rooms. Her complexion is hale and ruddy, with a very becoming flush on her cheeks, and her nose is thin and patrician. Her skin is clear and unlined, yet there is an intensity to her gaze, and a implacable serenity about her that no woman could have acquired young, and her age is difficult to state. Liawen wears her bright red hair is a long, sensible braided, which hangs heavily between her shoulder blades, laced with a bit of russet ribbon. Her dress is of commonplace Ghealdanin fashion, yet is cut from costly silks that are a deep, warm brown color, and lined with minniver at her cuffs. A wide collar of intricate Aerine lace lays flat on her shoulders and breastbone, and the rounded neckline reveals just a peek of cleavage. She wears a long chain of carved ivory spaced with bright topazes around her neck, with matching pieces at her ears, and her Great Serpent ring shines on her finger. Her shawl, richly worked with curling leaves and vines, is draped with precision across her narrow shoulders, displaying long fringe, dyed to a deep brown color, the brown of rich earth.
