Hazine Quoriff
When she began to channel, it manifested itself in a strange trick. When her father became abusive and she felt threatened, she was able to make him sleep, without knowing what she was doing. Alas, she had blocked herself, so she could only channel when she felt in peril. Soon, Hazine fell ill because of her unskilled channeling, and her condition grew worse. One day, nigh delirious with fever , her very bones creaking, she skittered over the Library, and went about her duties. She mounted a ladder, swooned and fell, nearly killing herself.
In what seemed to be a ta'veren twist of fate, legendary Brown sister Esme Kenerick, was in the library, and she was able to Heal Hazine and then guide her through her initial training. Recognizing her potential, Esme Sedai escorted her to the Tower, and took a personal interest in her training, becoming her mentor. After a brief novitiate, Hazine's Accepted testings were awful, traumatic things, all stemming from her family life, leaving her mother in childbirth, returning some years later to see her little brothers thieves and knifers, and lastly Hazine walking out on her own children.
Through her brief Acceptance, Esme was always there, and she adored her, and Esme was the instrument of her block's breaking, placing herself in danger of carefully rigged blades that Hazine had to channel to stop without being in danger herself. It worked! Under Esme's tutelage, Hazine was leaning Brown in her Ajah choice.
When Hazine was about to test for the shawl, Esme was sent out on a mission to capture a False Dragon, and she was overpowered and stilled. In a rash decision she'd regret, Hazine chose Red in a fit of frenzy, and vowed to stop all male channelers. In time, she became a distinguished, if less obnoxious Red sister, although she seems more Brown than Red. She has returned to the Tower after a lengthy sabbatical in Bandar Eban, helping to catalogue the Terhana Library.
Hazine is as knowledgeable as any Brown, with a rich education in a wide variety of subjects, has learned politics and strategy, Old Tongue and even Waste Lore. A woman of her age accumulates a tidy bit of odd knowledge, like unarmed combat, herbalism and even a degree of streetwise. She is good with horses, and with a knife, having grown up in a poor sort of place. As an Aes Sedai who can play the Game in her sleep, she is a skilled actress, and can be stealthy and disguise herself well. She has learned to track and to ride as well. Her travels as a Sister have been complicated by her fear of boats, a phobia, and she is social clueless, a combination of a befuddled Brown and a strident Red, and somewhat socially inept.Hazine keeps a small cottage in one of the small towns at the feet of Tar Valon, preferring her solitude, often giving exceptional students special training there. Currently, she has two such favorites, Ionyse Dantides, an Illianer novice, and Ajima Marcasiev, an Accepted of Kandori birth.
At first glance, Hazine looks to a pretty enough, attractive woman. Only when you look into her face, and see the saturnine expression and implacable eyes set in a countenance that could have been cast in bronze, do you realize that she is not a woman who is to be approached lightly. At one look, she seems young and girlish, at another there is a maturity about her large, dark eyes, a hint of knowing that no one could have gotten young, and holds herself with a grace and air of command, every inch an Aes Sedai. A close fitting collar of amber beads and small gold medallions encircles her throat, and on the second finger of her left hand is a gold ring in the shape of a serpent biting its own tail.
