Cariyo Damijan

• Position - Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah, Sitter for the Yellow in the Hall of the Tower.
• Character Summary - A Yellow Sister of Arafel, recently installed Sitter for the Yellow in the Hall, Cariyo is Arafellin by birth, and was originally brought to the Tower by Tezanya Vadanyar of the Yellow, o'er a century and a quater ago, a fact that seems well forgotten by many. It is believed that Cariyo remained in contact with Tezanya during her exile. Cariyo is foremost among the Yellows who would thwart the ambitions of Roisene Meriodred, another Sitter for the Yellow in the Hall of the Tower.

• Character Description - Placid and reposed, Cariyo Damijan is a plain-faced woman, with long chestnut hair and large brown eyes. She is not slim, but not yet stout, either. She looks more akin to a woman who has raised a house full of children than a Sitter in the Hall of the Tower. She wears a simple dress of ochre-dyed wool, cut in the style of Arafel, with a high waist and triangular neckline, embroidered in green and white stitching making out a pattern evocative of thistles and brambles down the edges of the neckline, and continuing down one side of her skirts, and then around the hems. Pale yellow Merucia lace fills the space within the neckline, and narrow bits trim her cuffs. She wears a doubled necklace of simple amber beads around her neck, and narrow bracelets of golden clatter on his wrist. Her Great Serpent ring is not in sight. Her dark hair is worn loose and long, and several tiny tintinabula of gold on dainty chains are strung through her locks, jingling softly as she moves. For all her austere and rather simple attire, the bells are from the smiths of Jakanda, the finest makers in all of Arafel, and worth as much as a purse full of rubies. A simple cloak of dark grey velvet is worn over the dress, and soft kid slippers shod her feet.

• Tezanya Vadanyar: Aged and respected, Tezanya Vadanyar, a former Sitter in the Hall for the Yellow Ajah, was a figure of utmost dignity and respect when she was called upon to resign her seat in the Hall of the Tower as the inaugural act of the former Amyrlin, Elsbedhe Bodwell. In retaliation, Tezanya Sedai slapped Elsbedhe, who had long envied Tezanya's ability with the Power since their time together as novices, before the assembled Hall. The Amyrlin then summarily exiled Tezanya, and she remained away from Tar Valon long into the reign of Elsbedhe's successor. During her exile, Tezanya journeyed to her native Saldaea, and made herself into a national heroine for her selfless service at the Blightborder. Upon her return to Tar Valon, she promptly took up the stewardship of the Tower's hospices and dispensaries. The Aes Sedai, however, are still unclear about the rationale for her return from her retirement. She seems to have orchestrated the installment of Cariyo Sedai in the Hall of the Tower as a check on Roisene Meriodred.
